Could Air France Flight AF447 Flight Recorder Airplane Blackbox Be Saved With This?

It has been reported that the search for the Air France AF447 airplane blackbox is getting tougher as the power supply in the box get weaker.

Given the state of technology available to the aviation industry, could not the blackbox have been designed to be more easily locateable?

Would not a floatation device in the airplane blackbox helps to float the box upon impact on the ocean?

How about a balloon that automatically expands and fill up with gas upon impact and thus cushioning the blackbox if the crash is on land?

How about shooting out long trailing tentacles so that the blackbox can be more visible?

It seems like a paradox, but the airplane blackbox is most useful in the event of a crash. Yet not much effort has been invested in its design to make it more recoverable in the event of a air crash. More so as major improvements has been invested in the other areas of aircraft design, but its seems like the airplane blackbox has remained a black box all these years of aviation history.
